In Part 1 of our email series focusing on the unique applications of asphalt we are highlighting Shower Pan installations using our oxidized asphaltic products.  Hot mopped shower pans represent perhaps the most common use of asphalt outside of roofing and road work applications.  This method is rapidly growing in popularity with tract home builders and multifamily development builders for many reasons.  

Just as it is with Built-Up Roof Systems, hot mopped shower pans utilize multiple layers of liquid applied hot asphalt and asphalt saturated felts bonded together to form a robust monolithic barrier. This protects your subfloor from leaks and offers much greater protection than single-ply systems because there are no folds, special pieces, splices, or glues needed at dams, corners, laps, or seams. This makes hot mopped shower pans the choice for showers that are uniquely shaped or larger in size because hot mop conforms to any shape or size with 100% integrity.
